The church St. Athanasius belongs to the architectural type of cross-in-square buildings, with a dome resting on four massive stone columns. The writings of the first travelogues indicate that in the middle of the XIX century the church was preserved, and its interior was covered with frescoes. With the demolition of the dome and the upper parts of the building, under the influence of atmospheric conditions the fresco painting was completely ruined. However, the preserved segments of the building are speaking for the former grandeur of the building, built of properly processed stone blocks and bricks in opus cloisonné.
