The Macedonian Theater Festival “Vojdan Chernodrinski” was constituted in 1965 at the initiative of the Association of Dramatic Artists of the Republic of Macedonia. The festival is named after the founder of the Macedonian drama – Vojdan Chernodrinski, playwright, actor and director. Traditionally, it is held every year in the city of Prilep at the beginning of June.

The first performance of this renowned festival took place on June 4, 1965.

The Festival continuously presents the best theatrical / dramatic achievements of the entire Macedonian theater production based on works from the world drama and especially the Macedonian drama is affirmed.

The festival has a competitive character in the Official Program.

The festival is of special state interest and the only one of its kind funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia. Macedonia, the local self-government and donations and sponsorships.

The artistic director of the Festival is Katarina Kocevska. She follows the entire theatrical production and proposes a concept for the Official and Accompanying Program as well as the other contents of the Festival.

The masking of Forgiveness in Prilep has existed for a long time. This traditional custom reflects the ethno-cultural identity of Macedonia and is a unique phenomenon in the Balkans, Europe and even in the world. The centuries-old celebration of Forgiveness from 2001 has grown into an organized cultural event “Prilep Carnival” with an international character, and on May 21, 2006 it became a member of the European Federation of Carnival Cities FECC. Every year, Prilep hosts over 300 guests from several European countries. Over 1000 group and individual masks parade through the city center, and the best are followed by prizes. In addition to the parade of masks, the event is enriched with concerts, club parties, performances of cultural and artistic societies, exhibitions of masks, as well as presentations at the traditional Macedonian table. Prilep will host the 32nd FECC Convention in 2012.

“Pivofest” is a tourist event that has a 17-year tradition in Prilep. This fashion show of top beers and barbecue specialties, complemented by the background of selected music brands in the Balkans, is a tourist attraction, which is of interest to fans of this type of parties not only in Macedonia but also in the Balkans. In the last few years, the beginning of the festival coincides with the religious holiday “St. Peter’s Day”, and the event lasts 4 days. It has an excellent attendance. This year, for the first time, the parking space will be charged 50 denars per day or twice the price compared to previous years.
The event is held in the city center, so that traffic during this period is redirected to other major roads, in order to provide a safe pedestrian zone. All public enterprises and other competent institutions are in charge of the safety of food, hygiene, public order and peace, the application of all modern standards for the organization of such entertainment. this party requires a room, a bed more.
